~Synopsis~
Meet Liv Michaels
It may have been seven years, but I’d know him anywhere. Sure, he’s grown, filled out in all the right places, but his captivating blue eyes and cocky grin are exactly the way I remember. Even though I’d much rather forget.

Liv Michaels is almost there. She’s smart, determined and weeks away from landing the job she’s dreamed about for years. Time healed old wounds, even her broken heart from the devastation of being crushed by her first love.

Meet Vince Stone
Women love a fighter, especially a good one. Lucky for me, I’m damn good. But there’s one woman that isn’t interested. Not again, anyway.

Vince ‘The Invincible’ Stone is every woman’s fantasy…strong, sexy, confident and completely in control. Growing up surrounded by chaos, he’s learned never to get too attached. Love will drag you down. He adores women, treats them well, puts their own needs before his own…for the night anyway. With the biggest fight of his life coming up, his focus should be on training.

When fate brings Vince & Liv back together again, there’s no denying the chemistry is still there. But can Vince erase the old scars their past left behind? Or will Liv hurt him instead.

~Review~

I love a good book about a fighter and Vince Stone did not disappoint me. I was instantly immersed in this book and it was such an easy read. It never dulled or felt lacking and I found myself glued to my kindle every spare minute, wanting to know what would happen to Vince and Liv.

Vince and Liv have a history and after not seeing each other for 7 years, since high school, they are both shocked when they run into each other again, with Liv responsible for writing an article on Vince. She is definitely affected by seeing Vince again and it’s clear that she was really hurt by him at one time. However, Vince wasn’t unaffected by seeing Liv and it was obvious to me that he had some real feelings for her as well. I really liked that there was no pussyfooting around. They instantly reconnected and the book focused on the relationship they were building and all of the things they had to overcome.

I was definitely a fan of the chemistry and passion between these two. I was riveted by the ease with which they interacted with one another and how palpable the tension and attraction was between them. Vince is definitely a dominant man but Liv brings out the soft side in him and I love when a woman does that to a man. She is definitely the woman he has always wanted and needed in his life and I really liked the transformation in Vince from the beginning to the end, thanks to Liv.  They had some very sexy love scenes and they were steaming up the pages.

One of the things I really liked about this book was that there was an interesting plot that was just has spell binding as the chemistry and passion in the romance. Liv is keeping a secret from Vince and while you and I know that it’s only to protect him, I can see how it would be hard convincing him of that when he finds out. Likewise, Vince is ashamed of his upbringing and he tries to shield this part of his life from Liv but by doing that, he’s not really letting her in and that can put strain on a relationship. I liked how supportive and understanding Liv is when Vince brings her into that part of his life. She really proved to him that she has genuine feelings for him and she always has. On the other hand, I was a little disappointed in the way that Vince handled the situation with Liv’s secret. I understand his initial reaction but I felt like he didn’t really give Liv a chance to explain and I definitely wanted to kick him for some of the decisions he made.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I felt like the plot flowed really well and the writing was excellent. I enjoyed the character development, the mixture of romance and action and I loved the chemistry with Vince and Liv. I felt like the author really balanced everything well and I never got bored or felt like the sex overshadowed the rest of the book. I’m definitely excited to read more!

Release Day Launch & Giveaway: White Hot Kiss by Jennifer Armentrout

We are beyond excited to participate in the Release Day Launch for Jennifer L. Armentrout's WHITE HOT KISS! WHITE HOT KISS is a young adult paranormal romance being published by Harlequin Teen TODAY! This is the first full-length novel in The Dark Elements Series and one you'll want to grab as soon as you finish reading this post.

~Synopsis~

One kiss could be the last.
Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses. Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.
Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul. But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

~Excerpt~

“I don’t think of Zayne that way!” She laughed. “What man-parts-loving female in this world doesn’t think of Zayne that way? I can barely keep myself breathing when I see him. All the guys in school have squishy waists. I can tell Zayne doesn’t. He’s the awesome sauce with extra sauce.” That he was and he so didn’t have a squishy waist, but I tuned Stacey out at that point. I really did need to cram for this test and I also didn’t want my fantasies involving Zayne to occupy my mind right now. Especially after I’d woken up this morning, carefully tucked under the covers. The bed had smelled like him: sandalwood and crisp linen. “Oh, sweet baby Jesus in a manger,” Stacey murmured. I clenched my jaw, cupping my hands over my ears. She jabbed me in the side with her elbow. At this rate I’d be covered in bruises before lunchtime. “Our bio class just got a billion times more interesting. And hotter, lots and lots hotter. Holy mother, I want to have his babies. Not now of course, but definitely later. But I’d like to start practicing soon.” The cell wall is a thick and rigid layer covering the plasma something, something plant cells… Stacey stiffened all of a sudden. “Oh my God, he’s coming—” Composed of fat and sugar— Something slender and shiny fell from who knew where, landing in the middle of Sam’s notes. Blinking tightly, it took me a couple of seconds to recognize the faded and half peeled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sticker covering the back of the silver cell phone. My heart slammed against my ribs. Gripping the edges of the notebook, I slowly lifted my gaze. Unnaturally beautiful golden eyes met mine. “You forgot this last night.”

Chelsea & Jessica Get Brazen! Against the Wall by Rebecca Zanetti

Hey guys! We’re back again and this week we’re getting Brazen with Rebecca Zanetti’s Against the Wall. We have met a baseball player, a couple of cops, a fighter, and now we can add sexy lawyer/cowboy to our list of Brazen men! Sign me up!

Never challenge a cowboy in the courtroom…

Surveying the proposed site for a high-end golf course should have been a breeze for spunky Landscape Architect Sophie Smith. But when this born-and-bred city girl is suddenly—and quite literally—swept off her feet by a sexy cowboy on horseback, she realizes that the country life has some serious (and seriously steamy!) possibilities. That is, until she finds out exactly who her smokin’-hot wrangler really is.

Cowboy and Tribal lawyer Jake Lodge is desperately trying to block the development. And if that means playing hardball—and being every inch the shark lawyer—so be it. But Sophie is a distraction he didn’t expect. A distraction that makes his blood burn.

Two different worlds. Two opposing sides. And when they finally give into the exquisite temptation, the consequences will shake the foundations of both of their lives…

**************************************

-Against the Wall takes place in Montana. Are you a city girl or a country girl?

Jessica: Hm. This is hard! I love being in the city because I like the excitement and the hustle and bustle. But living in the country myself, I love seeing the stars at night and watching the fireflies light up a field. I guess I’m a country girl at heart now!

Chelsea: Oh, definitely a country girl! As much as I love the city, growing up in Idaho will forever make me a country girl and I love it!

-Our male hero, Jake, actually has a daughter. Would you date a single father?

Jessica: This is hard. I want to say I would, but I honestly don’t know. Is it strange that I would almost feel gypped that I wasn’t the first one to have his baby? Not saying that the baby wouldn’t be any less special to him, but that it’s like I lost the chance at having that first with him. Yet- if I fall in love with a guy who happens to have a kid, then would I deny myself my chance at love? I don’t think I would….

Chelsea: As a single girl out in the dating world now, this is actually something I’ve thought a lot about. I’ve always said it was a hard no because of the baggage and drama that can come with it but I have to agree with Jess and wonder if I could be missing out on something really great if I denyed someone because of that. I probably wouldn’t date someone with kid’s at this time but never say never.

-There are some pretty sexy scenes in this book and a few of them involve some outdoor lovin’! Is that something you would do with your man?

Jessica: LOL. If I knew we were completely and totally alone, then sure. Sadly, I’ve never had that crazed, passionate ‘if you’re not inside me right this second I’m going to DIE’ with a guy before, so I can’t say whether or not I’d lose myself to the point it didn’t matter where I was or who could show up.

Chelsea: Haha! I’m not sure I would be so sex crazed that I couldn’t at least make it to a bedroom or a more private place but I do kind of like the “risk” of doing something a little adventurous. Might be kind of hot…l

-Sexiest scene in the book?

Jessica: I would have to say the scene outside of the B&B on the porch where Jake and Sophie absolutely can’t wait another minute to be with each other.

Chelsea: Oh that’s definitely a really hot scene. For some reason, I love a good shower scene so I’d have to go with the scene in the shower after Jake comes home from doing some real man work J

-This book involves a spirit guide by the name of Bob. What were your thoughts on him?

Jessica: I thought it was a bit cheesy. I get that Jake and his family are part of the Kooskia Tribe, so there’s some native American heritage here, but Sophie having dreams of Bob was definitely weird.

Chelsea: LOL, I agree. It was a bit weird. In the end, I didn’t feel like it really added anything to the story and I didn’t quite get the purpose of it at all.

-What did you think of Jake’s brothers Quinn and Colton?

Jessica: I have to say I am mighty intrigued by those boys! I definitely want to see where their stories go, as well as with their sister Dawn and their friend Hawk. Colton’s story sounds like a case of best friends to lovers and Dawn’s sounds like the little sister dating a good friend trope and I do love those kinds ofstories! And Quinn’s the sheriff/cowboy so that’s hot right there!

Chelsea: I really liked Quinn and Colton. I love the whole family dynamic in this book and I think the brothers are going to be just as intriguing and sexy as Jake was so I’m excited to read their stories as well. I agree with Jess; sheriff/cowboy is about as hot as lawyer/cowboy!

-Do you like the idea of the whole small town feel? Where everyone knows your business?

Jessica: It reminds me of Gilmore Girls and I always loved watching that. It seems cool to have so much history with a town of people, but it would grate on my nerves never having privacy, especially when they find out something you don’t want them to know.

Chelsea: I grew up in a small town like this myself so I know all too well how news spreads like wildfire. I did love growing up in a small town but it definitely has its downsides when it comes to your business. You can’t really sneeze without everyone knowing about it the next day.

Jake is quite the bossy one- both inside and out of the bedroom. Are you into bossy, take charge guys?

Jessica: I would be open to it inside of the bedroom, but outside? Hell no. Jake meddled quite a bit in Sophie’s affairs even before they had determined their relationship and I think that would have been a really problem for me.

Chelsea: I might be able to handle a guy being a little bossy in the bedroom but no way outside. I’m pretty independent and I hate being told what to do. In fact, when a man tells me what to do, I’m even more inspired to do the exact opposite.

From the moment I read the title of this book, I was dying to read it. I love the title and it screams Brazen. Jake is not only a sexy ass lawyer but he’s also a cowboy. I’m not sure it gets much better than that. I also really like the small town setting in this book and the way that everyone opens their arms for Sophie. Also, it’s in Montana. Enough said.

Sophie is a golf course designer and she’s in Mineral Lake, Montana to propose her design. While there, she meets Jake, a local cowboy and also the lawyer for the tribe that is opposing the golf course she’s set to design. Sophie and Jake are instantly attracted to each other and I could definitely feel the chemistry and sexual tension between the two right away. I liked how confident Jake was and how hard he fought for his family and beliefs and for Sophie.

I liked Sophie but she frustrated me a time or two. I understood her loneliness because of the childhood she had but I felt like one minute she wanted the familial closeness of Jake’s family and the next minute she was fighting him because he wanted her to stay. I could get her weariness with how fast paced the relationship was moving but she bounced around on what she wanted a little too much sometimes. However, I did think she was strong willed and I liked that about her. She took every opportunity to follow her passions and I admired that.

Sophie and Jake have some really hot passion and I liked that they didn’t waste any time in going for what they both wanted. Jake is a very determined guy and when he wants something, he goes after it with 100% of his heart. He loves his little girl, Leila, more than anything and I loved how sweet and protective he is of her. His heritage is important to him and so is family and I really liked seeing that. I definitely think it was a huge bonus for Sophie, considering she never really had a family growing up. While I loved the interaction and chemistry with Sophie and Jake, I felt like the plot could have used a little more development. There were a lot of things going on with the land development and Sophie and Jake’s relationship and it felt like some things were skimmed over just a little too easily.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book and really loved the family dynamic portrayed between Jake and his family and the way they opened their arms and hearts to Sophie. I liked the relationship between Jake and Sophie and they definitely had some sexy, steamy times. I have a soft spot for cowboys and I need to make a serious trip to Montana one of these days. Haha!

I enjoyed Against the Wall, as it was incredibly easy and quick to read. I also loved the Montana setting, as well as our hero being a sexy cowboy AND a powerhouse lawyer. I did feel Against the Wall was a bit on the cheesy side, and there wasn't a lot of development in terms of the characters and their relationship.

I did like Sophie. She was independent and career driven and manages to keep her wits about her even when an incredibly sexy cowboy nearly runs her down on his horse. I really liked how Jake's family was so accepting of her and willing to embrace her as one of their own, especially since they are opposed to her company's golf course they want to build on tribe land. Sophie never had that growing up, having been shipped off to boarding school and never knowing who her real father was. For a woman who has lived a rather lonely life, I can see her being overwhelmed by the Lodge/Freeze family. Sophie longs for that closeness and sense of family, as well as passion and love in her relationship. Her co-worker Preston, expresses his interest in her but it seems like a merger of benefits than it does about love. Meeting Jake definitely throws her off balance, as he is a pretty intense guy. I am glad Sophie found what she was looking for in the end and that being in Montana really opens up another set of doors she never gave serious thought to before.

I liked and didn't like Jake at the same time. Yes, he is incredibly sexy, intense, and protective of his own. However, I didn't like how much he meddled in her career to fit his own needs and desires without consulting her first. It also bothered me how blasé he was regarding the fact that they had sex twice without using protection and Sophie not being on birth control. For two people who have only known each other a short time, he acts like her possibly being pregnant is just something they'll deal with and it will all work out.

Sophie and Jake's relationship just moved too quickly for my taste and I had a hard time visualizing and really seeing the moment where the two fell in love. I don't doubt that they didn't, I just felt it was rushed and would have liked it to slow down while they were together. I also had a hard time discerning Jake's true feelings for her, especially after a certain event. Did he really love her because he wanted to be with her or was it for other reasons? That question did get answered during one pivotal scene, but I just felt it was a bit up in the air for a bit.

They DO have some explosive chemistry and that porch scene is beyond hot and steamy!

I did really enjoy the side characters in the novel. I'm very interested in reading about Jake's brothers, Quinn and Colton, as well as his sister Dawn. Jake's mom Loni and his daughter Leila were also great to read about- both of them were really cute in their working to make Sophie see what a catch Jake would be.

The storyline, while fast moving, was also very interesting not only with the romance between Jake and Sophie, but with the emphasis on family and seeing the legal side of the battle over whether or not to build a golf course on tribe land.

While not my favorite Brazen read, I am still looking forward to checking out the future books in this series.

One Year Blogoversary!!

Banner designed by Jessica @ Lovin Los Libros

Wow... I can't believe I have been blogging for an entire year now. This has been an incredible experience and I am so glad that I found a hobby that I really enjoy and am finally passionate about. I feel like blogging has not only given me a hobby to fill the boring hours of my life but also taught me a lot about myself. I have met people online through blogging who I feel closer to and have more in common with than some of my friends in real life. It was fun to look back through and see my first review and how much they have developed and evolved. My life has changed so much over the last year and I recently celebrated my 28th birthday. Despite the tough times I dealt with in the last year, blogging got me through it and I have all of my followers and especially my blogging besties to thank for that. So THANK YOU!! Thank you for being incredibly supportive of my blog and reviews. Thank you for your thoughtful comments and reading my posts. Thank you for reminding me how much I love reading and helping me build a passion out of it.

I have enjoyed Every. Single. Moment. of blogging but I thought I would just share my Top Ten Favorite Blogging Moments of Year One!

10. My First Review: I think this is a huge moment for any blogger and we don't really realize it until we look back and think, "This is where it all started." The first review I ever wrote for this blog was a combined review of Obsidian, Onyx and Opal by Jennifer Armentrout. It's a terrible review but it's mine and I'm keeping it. :-)

9. Saturday @ Starbucks: This is a Top Ten moment for me because I am completely left-brained so actually coming up with my own feature and a catchy name too was a defining moment for me. :-)

8. 100th Blog Post: This was an exciting moment for me. I mean I never realized my blog would get so big and that I would hit 100 posts. Happy Day!!

7. Book Signings: Before blogging, I was COMPLETELY unaware of author meet and greets and book signings. I now have bookshelves full of signed books by some of my favorite authors and I have blogging to thank for it!

6. 100 Followers: I am definitely a small fish in a big pond when it comes to the blogging world so to be honest, numbers don't mean that much to me. However, when I hit 100 followers, I think that was on of the most exciting days for me. Of course I have so many more now but there's just something magical about that first 100.

5. 25 Days of Book Boyfriends: This was my first joint venture with a couple other bloggers, Jessica @ Lovin Los Libros and Theresa @ Readers Live A Thousand Lives. I never could have imagined the amazing turnout we got and how successful it would be. I can't wait for the Second Annual tour this December.

4. Acknowledgements: The first time I saw my name in the acknowledgements from a book by an author that I adore, I definitely flailed. I don't read and review for recognition but I won't lie and say that I don't feel a little warm inside when I see my name there.

3. Authors: Seriously, interacting and getting to know authors has been AMAZING! One of my absolute favorite things that blogging has enabled me to do. I love ALL the authors but I want to give a special thanks to Lauren Blakely, Heather Lyons, Rachel Harris, Jen Frederick, Aven Ellis and Jasinda Wilder. Interacting and getting to know these ladies has been FABULOUS. Not only are they incredibly talented but they are down to earth women who make you feel more like a friend than a reader or a blogger.

This is for you Aven :-)

2. Chelsea & Jessica Get Brazen!: Having the fortunate pleasure to buddy up with Jessica @ Lovin Los Libros to do a weekly feature where we read, review and discuss an Entangled Brazen book is a huge highlight for me. Jessica is a creative genius and when we read a Brazen book together to get out of a bad book funk and then she came up with this idea and asked me to partner with her, I was thrilled. A Brazen a week is super sweet! Haha!

1. #GwB: Probably the BEST thing about my first year in blogging is all of the awesome people I have met and become friends with. I am so, so lucky that I got involved with a group of girls on Twitter and we effectively named ourselves and our group Girls with Books or GwB. We started this group out of a twitter read-along of Girl with Guitar by Caisey Quinn and I will never forget that day. This book will always hold a special place in my heart because of the group of friends that was created from it.

Tonya @ Lilybloombooks: Girl, you are one of the funniest people I know and I love reading your posts. You are also sweet, kind and generally awesome! Can't wait to meet in NYC! XOXO

Danielle @ What Danielle Did Next: You amaze me with the reviews you write. I hope you're writing a book because I think it would be fabulous. You are also an absolute doll and one of the sweetest girls I know. <3 Love you!

Trish @ Between My Lines: Trish, you are such a wonderful woman and great friend. You write some of the best discussion posts and I love how thoughtful you are. I adore you! <3 <3

CeCe @ Steaming Mug of Books: Cece! Damn girl, you make me laugh. I love that we have the same dirty mind and that all of our bookish conversations on twitter turn into a conversation about hot guys. When we meet in NYC, we're gonna have some real fun together. *Muah* <3

Wendy @ Bookscents: Wendy! I am beyond thrilled that we not only connected through blogging but get  be friends in real life. It is so amazing to have a friend close by that has the same bookish passion as me and someone to go to signings with too. Also, we may have to hit up a few pubs for some Hawks games in the fall. Love you girl!

Jessica @ Lovin Los Libros: Jessica, you are like my soul sister! It is unbelievable to me how much we have in common and I swear we love the exact same books! I so wish that we lived closer because we would paint the town red. I can't wait to meet up in NYC!!

I also want to thank these girls for their friendship and support during a difficult time in my personal life this last year. The fact that I could share something so personal with them means the world to me.

I honestly, truly LOVE every single blogger, reader and follower out there. My blog is what it is today because of all of you and I 100% mean that.

Swoon Thursday: Against the Wall by Rebecca Zanetti

Swoon Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by YA Bound.

From the book you’re currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

Shout it out on Twitter with the hashtag #YABound, post it here in the comments, or grab the adorable button above and share it on your blog! We want to know :-)

This week my swoon moment is from Against the Wall by Rebecca Zanetti.

"With the hint of a growl, his tongue invaded her mouth. He took his time learning her texture, memorizing her taste. the hand at her nape threaded into her hair, and he pressed her against the seat. She clenched his shirt and slid her tongue against his. Fire boiled through him, and his groan of approval filled her mouth. His hand slid from her waist and relaxed against her thigh, her toned muscle tempting him to yank the material away."

Phew.. What a hot scene, right? I'm really enjoying this one and it's the Brazen feature for this week so come back by on Saturday, Feb 22 to see mine and Jessica's review and discussion.
