~Synopsis~

I grew up wishing on stars.

My father taught me to believe…in destiny, in magic, in happily ever after. Dreams were my scripture and the starry night sky was my temple. Then Mom stopped believing, left him, and took us with her. At the age of sixteen, I cashed in my dreams to pay the rent, pawned my destiny to keep my sisters together.

Now, seven years later, I’m returning home, grieving the death of my mother, and settling my sisters back into the life Mom threw away. I never intended to stay. I don’t want to deal with my father, who is so invested in the spiritual world he forgets the physical. I don’t want to face William Bailey, whose eyes remind me of the girl I was, the things I’ve done, and the future I lost.
This would all be easier if Will hated me. As it is, I have to hold my secrets close so they won’t hurt him more than they’ve already hurt me. But he wants to be in my life. He wants what I can’t bring myself to confess I sold. He wants me.

I find myself looking to my stars again...wondering if I dare one more wish.

Due to sexual content, recommended for mature audiences only. 18+

~Review~

I became an instant fan of Lexi Ryan after reading Unbreak Me so I wasn’t surprised to find that I loved Wish I May even more. Lexi really knows how to mix emotionally intense character backgrounds with steamy romance scenes to create a incredibly addicting story. I always liked Will in Unbreak Me but he just couldn’t compete with Asher. Wish I May is all about Will’s happy ending I was more than happy to see him get it.

William Baily has had a difficult past 2 years when it comes to his love life and he’s not sure he’ll ever get the happily ever after life he’s always dreamed of. He is an incredible man and any woman would be lucky to have him. However, he seems to always pick the wrong women and all he’s ever ended up with is a broken heart. Even though I was team Asher in Unbreak Me, I felt crazy bad for Will because he is a genuinely amazing guy. When his high school sweetheart comes back to town 7 years after she broke his heart, it is obvious she is the one that got away. I think every choice he’s ever made when it comes to women has been a residual effect from his heartbreak over Cally. He never really got his heart back so he never had it to give away.

Cally has clearly had a difficult past and coming back to New Hope brings back memories she tried so hard to forget. Despite all she has done and breaking Will’s heart, it’s obvious she has never stopped loving him. However, she fights her feelings and attraction from the very beginning because she hasn’t forgiven herself and she doesn’t feel good enough for Will. There is so much to learn about Cally as the book unfolds but her sadness and despair emanates from the pages. With each revelation from her past, my heart broke for her and I deeply wanted her to see how happy she could be if she would just let Will in. She deserved it, no matter how much she didn’t think she did.

Who knew William Bailey had a dirty side in him? He always seemed like the wholesome, down to earth guy but man does he have a little dirty talker in him. The steam and  passion between him and Cally was smokin’ hot and there was clear chemistry from the beginning. Cally’s running from her past and the unfortunate decisions she had to make to protect her family and William is chasing his idea of the perfect life that he never experienced as a child. As they reconnected, I think they both realized that things don’t always turn out the way you thought they would but they turn out exactly how they are supposed to. I loved the way Will fought for Cally and didn’t give up on showing her what he wanted even as she constantly pushed him away and tried to run. She was so afraid of him finding out about her past but he proved himself through and through and I never doubted he would accept Cally no matter what.

I loved the way this book was written and the dual POV between Cally and Will. I also loved the way Cally’s past is revealed through flashbacks as well as the effects of Will’s heartbreak. When Callie’s past caught up with her in New Hope, I wanted her to be stronger and I felt like she caved too easily. However, as more information is revealed, I kind of understood her actions as well as her reasoning behind what she did. In the end, she stood strong when it counted and she finally stopped running. I couldn’t be happier for Will and Cally and the fact that they found their way back to each other again.

  2. I think it would be really interesting to read Will's story because I felt we got such a skewed view of him in Unbreak Me. I didn't really get a "good guy" feeling from him (maybe because of the whole in love with sisters things) but I would be very interested to get to know him better and figure out what went wrong. Great review!
