Saturday @ Starbucks is a weekly feature hosted by Starbucks & Books Obsession.
This week's topic is:
Discussing Companion Novels & a Hazelnut Macchiato with Caramel Drizzle
Drink of the Week: Hazelnut Macchiato with Caramel Drizzle
So, it is no secret that my go to favorite drink is the caramel macchiato but I liked to be adventurous every once in a while and mix it up. The hazelnut macchiato is a newer drink and it isn't as sweet as the caramel so I like to add caramel drizzle to the top of mine for a little extra sweet and decadence. I know, I know, I'm wild!
Book Topic: Discussing Companion Novels
While I love to read a good series, I have recently fallen in love with companion novels and find myself actively seeking them on a regular basis. For me, series can lose some luster after a few books and I end up being a little disappointed after the last book. However, companion novels allow me to spend an infinite amount of time with the characters I love without getting bored because of the new story line and the change of focus on different characters. I also feel like I connect with the secondary characters so often so getting the opportunity to read their story and see a book focused solely on them brings so much joy to my life. Since I discovered companion novels, many of them have become some of my favorite books and I love that I can also categorize them too. Here are some of my favorites!
Emotional & Intense
Light & Romantic
Alternate Point of View
Young Adult Contemporary
What about you? Do you like companion novels as much as or more than series? What are some of your favorites? Are there any that you don't like? I want to know, I really do!
Next week's topic: Most Anticipated New Releases for the rest of 2013
Omg I wrote the longest comment and the coffee shop wifi ate it!
ReplyDeleteHere is the short version:
Companion =good, series= bad
My vanilla caramel latte is too sweet.
I need to remember to email you. There is a 90% chance I will forget this in the next 3 minutes....
I hate when that happens!! Love the short version though :-) Ooh, vanilla caramel latte, that sounds delicious! I will need to try that.
ReplyDeleteI love companion novels. They can be read as stand alones so you don't need to commit to a new series. Huge plus. I don't think the alternate point of view book works as well for me, I prefer a fresh story.
ReplyDeleteI love Hazelnut and that beverage sounds delicious. I think I might need to hunt one down this week. I can't wait to read Losing Hope!!
ReplyDeleteThat is also one of the reasons I like them too. If I really love a book, I like the alternate POV because I love re-reading and it's even funner when it is the same story but extra scenes.
ReplyDeleteYou must track one down and try it! I am super excited for Losing Hope too! :-)
ReplyDeleteConfession: I'm not a fan of companion novels. It feels like reading the same (because it is the same story) only from another POV. It bores me... I'm going to read Losing Hope though. I read everything Colleen Hoover :)
ReplyDeleteHazelnut Macchiato - yum~
They aren't for everyone but at least you like my coffee :-) I would be heartbroken if you didn't.
