Armchair BEA Day 5: Keeping it Real & Children's/YA Lit

Topic 1: Keeping it Real

This is definitely something I think about a lot. I am a newbie blogger but I can see that as time goes on, it may get more difficult to come up with new material to keep it interesting. I do a feature on Saturdays called "Saturday's @ Starbucks" where I feature a drink from Starbucks & discuss a bookish topic. My biggest concern with this feature is coming up with a different topic week after week. This is where I am going to have to start getting creative. I participate in a few meme's each week and I think they are great ways to keep interesting content on a blog. I am curious to see what more seasoned bloggers have to say on this topic.

Topic 2: Children's/YA Lit

I LOVE children's books. I don't read them because I don't have any children but I love to read them with my nieces when I see them. They are cute, fun, educational and a wonderful way to expand a child's mind. I love Dr. Seuss and The Berenstein Bears, to name a few.

When it comes to YA, I love to read this genre even though I am in my late 20's. I love the way YA contemporary novels can be so real and address tough topics that teens could face in every day life. I also really enjoy reading young adult paranormal books and young adult dystopian novels. The greatest thing about the young adult category is the variety.

Chelsea- Right there with you on the newbie blogging part. I try to vary mine up with cover reveals, blog tours that include fun things like character interviews and whatnots, and then do some memes to break up my reviews. I love that you do your own feature on Saturdays and I do one myself on Mondays where I feature music I like that people should check out. So... we'll see! Hopefully those types of things will be enough in the long run.

And I'm with you on loving YA- I'm also in my late 20's, but I will proudly strut over to my YA section at the library! And you're right- there is SO much variety!!

  3. I'm a veteran blogger, but I stopped for a year, so I feel like a newbie. I'll definitely visit you for the Saturday @ Starbucks. It sounds like a great feature! Happy Armchair Bea!

  4. I LOVE music and love that you do a Monday post on it :-) I also love doing cover reveals and blog tours and book blitzes to mix it up and help authors promote their books. I have no shame chilling in the YA section at Barnes & Noble :-)
