2014 Blogging Resolutions

~ My 2014 Blogging Resolutions ~

I started this blog in February 2013 so it's been almost a year and I have loved every minute of it. I feel like it has been a successful year and I am looking forward to many, many more.
I've learned a lot about myself, my reading habits, my review style and so much more. With everything I've learned, I've decided to come up with some blogging resolutions for 2014. Let's hope I stick to them better than I normally do with my personal ones. :-)

************************

1. Complete my personal Young Adult Series Challenge.
For my last Top Ten Tuesday of 2013, I decided to list out the 10 YA series that I'd like to read in 2014 and I decided to extend that into a personal challenge for myself. I'm pumped to get started.
Click here to see my list.

2. Cut back on Blog Tours and Review Books
I absolutely love participating in tours and helping authors promote their books. However, I feel like I overwhelmed myself with "required" reading in 2013 and I have a mountain of unread books that I have purchased for myself that I really want to read as well. While I have every intention of still participating and helping authors out, I have to be a little more selective and limit myself to no more than 3 tours per month.

3. Increase my NetGalley Ratio
Compared to some people, my unread NetGalley list is probably light but I still have around 12-15 books from NG that I still need to read and review and I'd like to catch up on those and get my NG ratio up to 80% and keep it up there.

4. Diversify throughout Genres
I discovered the New Adult genre in 2013 and fell in love. I also ended up spending 85%-90% of my reading time in this genre. While I love new adult books, I also used to love reading young adult, paranormal romance, dystopian, historical fiction and mystery too. I really want to spread my wings a bit more in 2014 and read read beyond the new adult genre.

5. Participate in more Challenges
I signed up for a few challenges this year but didn't really actively participate as much as I would have likes. This year, I'd like to be more active in my challenges and maybe do a monthly "challenge update" post to keep on top of it.

Well, that's all I've got for now. I'm really excited about 2014 and another year of awesome books, blogging, meeting new people and hitting up some blogging conventions. I'm saving for BEA and I can't wait to meet everyone. It's gonna be epic. Also, my first every blogoversary is coming up in February and I'm working on planning something super fun and special. (February also happens to be my Birthday months too!)

What about you? Do you have any blogging resolutions you're working on this year?

  1. Love your resolutions and some are identical to mine. LOL that your idea of cutting back blog tours is to reduce them to 3 a month, that would stress me out! I do about 1 per month and plan to cut that back as even that gets on top of me!
March is my blog and birthday month and I'm planning ways to celebrate in style too :)
Happy New Year Chelsea, I love new year as it's time for a fresh start and new beginings and seems to full of possibilities. Hope 2014 is your year :)

  2. #5 is funny, because one of my goals is to NOT sign up for any more challenges. I suck at them LOL and I forget too, which isn't like me but...

Good luck with your YA challenge. I was FLOORED by the ones you haven't read LOL

I have a few resolutions, the main one is to say no. Honestly, I have like 10 review books that I never read because after the fact, I was all "WHY?" I know, rude but.. And, to de-stress myself.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR HON!

  3. These are great girl! I am completely with you on all of these! So far, I'm kind of failing at the tour one. But I'm GOING to stop signing up. Super excited for blogoversaries! Do you still want to team up and do something fun? Let me know! <3

  4. Thanks girl! Yeah, I've already failed the blog tour resolution for January. But in my defense, I had already signed up for these before I made the resolution :-) Definitely working hard to stick to it for the rest of the year though. I definitely want to team up and do something fun together for our blogoveraries! We'll make plans!

  5. Haha, I suck at challenges too. I'm hoping to do better this year but I have to make sure I don't sign up for TOO many. I know right? I can't believe all the ones I haven't read. I had like 20 and had to narrow my 2014 list to just 10. At least I have enough to challenge myself for 2015 too :-) I have a few review books that I still haven't read after a long time either. I still plan too but I can't make promises anymore. I don't think it's rude, you do the best you can. We've got jobs too! :-)

    Happy New Year!!

  6. Thanks girl! Gonna go check out yours! I know that's funny but I feel like sometimes I'm doing 3 a week so 3 a month is pretty tame for me :-) I really just want to have a little more fun and feel less like I'm working sometimes. Love the reading and blogging but it needs to be a hobby and feel like one too. I can't wait to check out your celebration in March! Happy New Year! I hope we ALL have an amazing 2014!
