Review: Crash by Nicole Williams

Crash
Author: Nicole Williams
Publisher: HarperCollins
Publication Date: December 18, 2012

Jude Ryder and Lucy Larson are this generation's Romeo and Juliet: Explosive. Sizzling. Tragic.

A steamy summer encounter with bad boy Jude means trouble for Lucy. Her sights are set on becoming a ballerina, and she won't let anything get in her way . . . except Jude.

He's got a rap sheet, dangerous mood swings, and a name that's been sighed, shouted, and cursed by who knows how many girls.

Jude's a cancer, the kind of guy who's fated to ruin the lives of girls like Lucy—and he tells her so.

But as rumors run rampant and reputations are destroyed, Lucy's not listening to Jude's warning. Is tragedy waiting in the wings? This racy romance is hot, hot, hot!

I really enjoyed reading Crash and I think that Nicole Williams is a very talented writer. I enjoyed the characters and the twists thrown into the plot that kept it from being predictable.

I really liked Lucy and her snarky attitude. I loved that she wasn't some snobby ballet dancer who was going to turn the bad boy around. She had attitude and she didn't care what anyone thought about her. She loved Jude for exactly who he was and never asked him to change or tried to change him. She wanted him to see him the way she did, as someone worth loving. She made a few choices that made me want to scream at her but I understood why those decisions were made.

Jude was a typical bad boy but I really liked how protective he was with Lucy. She saw him differently and that instantly connected him to her. His mixed signals started to get to me though because he wanted Lucy to trust him and he wanted to be with her but then he kept telling her how bad he was for her and that she should stay away. When she didn't trust him, he was truly hurt but I couldn't blame her when he constantly told her she shouldn't trust him or be with him. Jude had a tough life but he has such a low opinion of himself and he was a confident guy, except with Lucy. He really let himself be vulnerable with her which showed that he had self-esteem issues deep down.

I loved that this book wasn't about some good girl trying to tame and change the bad boy. It was about a girl who wanted to save the bad boy from himself without changing who he was, because that is the guy she fell in love with. The writing was excellent and the character and plot twists towards the end were really well done. I was definitely surprised by the turn of events.

  1. Love this series...still need to read the latest though. Jude is wonderfully erratic and I love his ups and downs. Biggest temper ever on that dude! Great review, glad you enjoyed it.

  3. Thank you! Jude is definitely one of the most temperamental and volatile male characters I have read. I really did like him though :-) Starting Clash this week.
