Saturday @ Starbucks: Best/Worst #3 ~ Love Triangles

Saturday @ Starbucks is a periodic feature hosted by Starbucks & Books Obsession.

This week's Best/Worst topic is:
Best/Worst Love Triangles

What I'm Drinking:
Starbucks NEW! Caramel Flan Latte

Oh love triangles! One of the bookish things we love to hate. The best love triangles are the ones that make you the most crazy. How do you choose between two incredible, sexy, sweet guys? Unfortunatly, I can't say I've ever had this issue in real life but I'm living vicariously through these book heroines and I feel their angst. However, there are those "love triangles" where there's no question and no contest on who the right guy is and then that begs the question on whether or not it's a true love triangle. Here are my picks for best and worst love triangle. What do you think?

BEST: The Fate Series by Heather Lyons

Have you met Jonah and Kellan Whitecomb yet? That's right ladies, TWINS! Different as night and day but both equally desirable and just when I think I've made my choice, I'm sent reeling back to the beginning of indecision. This is hands down the BEST love triangle I have ever read and I've never been more emotionally invested or experienced such heart-wrenching moments as I have in this series.

Honorable Mentions: The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare, Daynight by Megan Thomason

WORST: The Matched Trilogy by Ally Condie

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the Matched Trilogy and I liked both guys involved in the triangle. However, for me, the triangle fell a little flat. I don't want to say too much so as not to ruin anything for those that haven't read it but my reason for picking it involves the fact that I didn't feel like there was ever a question on who she should pick. I won't say whether or not she picked the "right" guy because I know this is one a lot of people differ on opinions but it just felt like it was all a bit one-sided.

Honorable Mentions: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, The Selection by Kiera Cass

Agree? Disagree? What are some of your faves or not so much?

  1. I agree with Hunger Games but mostly because I am on Team Gale here. =) haha. Throne of Glass had the BEST triangle because after I finished it I was honestly torn. BOTH are such great guys and I really couldn't lean one way or another! I have now read crown of midnight though so pretty firmly in love with Chaol now. haha.

  2. JONAHHHHHHHHHHHH! That is all. I agree though- of course. OMG! The Selection- yes I hate Aspen. SO much. Maxon, Maxon, Maxon! There's no other choice! She's so stupid. I can't think of any others I hate, but I really liked the love triangle in Down To You. (Hahaha!)

  4. Ahh, the Fate series. I still have yet to start it LOL I am really scared to, if I were honest.

I actually haven't read the Selection. AND! I didn't feel like The Hunger Games was really a love triangle either :)

  5. Ohh love triangles I love them and I hate them. I agree that the Fate series is one of the best. I need to catch up on that series. And The Infernal Devices is probably my favorite. For Matched I agree too. I've only read the first two but it does feel very one sided. I actually liked The Hunger Games triangle because I really liked both Gale and Peeta. Another good one is The Iron Fey because both Ash and Puck are wonderful.

  6. I have a love/hate relationship with love triangles. I do think the ones I love are the ones where I have no clue who will end of up together. I never bothered to finish the Matched series as I just didn't really care what happened, I think I can guess who she ended up with! I love 'A Matter of' series and yes I can't pick either.

  7. LOL, I am totally Team Peeta but it just didn't FEEL like a love triangle to me. I will definitely need to read Throne of Glass. I've heard great things.

  10. Haha! You have to read it. I think you will really enjoy them. The Selection is okay but it's not gripping and lacked a little depth. I still need to read The Elite.

  11. I totally agree. I have the same love/hate relationship. You definitely need to finish the Fate series. There's still one more book coming out but catch up! :-) HG just didn't really FEEL like a love triangle to me. 100% Team Peeta though LOL. I need to read Iron Fey!

  12. I agree, one of the reasons I like to read them despite the anxiety they generally cause me, especially the good ones. Haha, I'm sure you could guess! SO glad you like the Fate Series!
