25 Days of Book Boyfriends: Will Ryan from Sweet Thing

It's Christmas time and there's no better way to celebrate than cuddling up with our favorite book boyfriends and preparing to ring in the New Year. Myself and two awesome other ladies, Jessica @ Lovin Los Libros and Teresa @ Readers Live a Thousand Lives decided to celebrate by putting together the 25 Days of Book Boyfriends tour. Click here to check out the rest of the tour.

I have a lot of book boyfriends (don't we all?) but Will Ryan isn't my book boyfriend. No, Will Ryan is my book husband. Of all the sexy, smart, commanding men I've met this year, Will has left the most lasting impression. Months after meeting him in Sweet Thing, I still get butterflies just thinking about him.

Why do I love Will? Let me count the ways!

1. Tattooed
2, Sexy, Lithe Body
3, Musician
4. Sex God
5. Dog Lover
6.  Devoted
7. Incredible Friend
8. Honorable
9. Forgiving
10. F*&$ing Amazing!

~Interview with Will Ryan: His Soundtrack to Sweet Thing~

~ Hi Will, thanks for taking the time to sit down with me!
Of course, luv.  Thanks for having me and thank you for sharing our story with your readers.

~ How are things with you and Mia? I hope she knows how lucky she is? I’m sure she does (wink).

Mia and I have been very busy in all of the ways you can imagine but I think the most exciting thing we've been doing is working with Renée on a novella, which will be a follow up to the last book.  We're letting everyone in on what happened after the final pages of "Sweet Thing".  I think readers will be surprised.  Ha and yes, I like to remind Mia on a regular basis how lucky she is to have me but I'd be lying if I didn't say I think that I'm actually the lucky one.

~ Music is something that really connected you and Mia and I was hoping you could share with us today what your song choices would be to some pivotal moments between you and Mia if you were writing the soundtrack to Sweet thing.

Meeting on the Plane:
Definitely "Learning to Fly" by Tom Petty.  That airplane ride changed me and it changed who I was because It gave a me little glimpse into my future.  I haven't stopped thinking about Mia once since the day I met her on that plane.  Uh oh, I better stop she's getting misty-eyed.

First Jam session together
We were playing "(I'm your) Hoochie Coochie Man" by Muddy Waters.  I think at the time I was kind of wishing I was Mia's Hoochie Coochie man . . . wink.

The Morning after the Wedding
I always think about the morning after Jenny and Tyler's wedding.  Mia and I were curled up against each other in bed.  I pretended to be asleep so I could hold her a little longer and even though I was hungover and heartbroken, I remember there was this sense that things were gonna get better.  This song wasn't out back then, but I think it's a great fit for the memory.  "Sleepyhead" by Passion Pit.

Mia Cutting Will’s Hair
Awe, man, "Delicate" by Damien Rice was playing on her iPod.  I remember it like it was yesterday; it was perfect.

Will Returns from Cali early
I think Mia played "Wild Horses" over and over before I got home.  She plays and sings that song like the Charlotte Martin version but I think later that night I would have preferred The Sundays version.  It's not as depressing.  Mia just socked me.

The Morning After
Well I'd love to say something really romantic here but I was actually singing a Pearl Jam song and trying my best to imitate Eddie Vedder.  Every time Mia listens to Pear Jam she smiles and her cheeks turn pink.  I swear she's reliving some kind of teenage fantasy.  I believe the song was "Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town."  Today I would put a much more romantic song to those early morning hours we spent wrapped up in each other.  I would choose "Shelter" by Ray LaMontagne.

When Will leaves Mia
"Wash" by  Bon Iver or Heartbeats by José Gonzåles.  Both songs make me sad just thinking about them.  That was the saddest time of my life.

Back Together Again
"I Don't Want to Know" by Fleetwood Mac always makes the sunshine seem a little brighter.  There is something so peppy about the music, I think it fits how we felt when we both knew it was time to come back together.  Recently I really like "Here Comes the Night Time" by Arcade Fire, that song also puts a little pep in my step.

Epilogue
"I Need My Girl"  by he National.  My sentiments are exactly and I just fee like this song wraps it up nice and pretty.

Thanks so much, Chelsea, this was awesome.  Be on the lookout for the novella news from Renée.  She should be announcing soon.
All the best, Wilbur

Super, extra special THANKS to Renee Carlino for allowing me to interview Will Ryan for the soundtrack to Sweet Thing! You are a true gem Renee!

About Renee Carlino
Renee’s first friends were the imaginary kind and even though her characters haven’t gone away, thankfully the delusions have. She admits she’s a wildly hopeless romantic and she blames 80’s movies staring Molly Ringwald for that. She lives in Southern California with her husband, two sons, and their sweet dog June. When she’s not at the beach with her boys or working on the next book, she likes to spend her time reading, going to concerts, and eating dark chocolate.
