~Synopsis~

Successful fashion blogger McKenna Bell has spent far too long protecting herself after the way her ex-fiancé left her at the altar for a college chick he met the night of his bachelor party. Loving again, trusting again, well, that's just not in the cards. Especially now that her ex is back in town with his new woman, demanding custody of McKenna's favorite creature in the whole world--her dog.

No effing way. McKenna's had enough of him, and she decides to even the score by finding her own hot young thing -- a Trophy Husband. Sure, she's only twenty-seven, but doesn't that make it even more fun -- and infuriating to her ex -- to pursue a younger man?

When she declares her intentions on her daily blog, her quest quickly skyrockets in popularity, and that's when Chris enters the picture, and he’s got all the assets. He's handsome, successful, and turns her inside out with a kiss to end all kisses, the kind that makes you feel like a shooting star.

But loving again could mean losing again, and it's so much easier to focus on getting even, isn't it? Unless, you just can't help falling in love. Which means McKenna will have to come face to face with what she really wants in life -- protecting her heart from hurt, or letting go of her fears of a new beginning.

~Review~

If I could pick one word to describe Trophy Husband it would be Fantasmic because it was fantastic and amazing all wrapped up in one. It had me laughing and feeling all sorts of female empowerment. It was so refreshing to read a light, humorous and entertaining romance. I have read so many intense and heartbreaking romance novels lately that it was nice to feel a lightness in my chest and read a book that just made me laugh.

"Our public education system is much worse than I thought. After all, is it really that much to ask for one's potential next mate to be able to make a noun and verb agree? The answer, evidently, is yes."

I absolutely adored McKenna. She was smart, successful, witty and empowered. She may have been jilted and heartbroken, but she wasn't emotionally broken and that was a breath of fresh air. She found a way to take back control of her life and try to move on. I think she came up with the "Trophy Husband" idea as a way to take back some of the power that her ex had taken from her. However, it was obvious that it wasn't really what she wanted but proving a point was very important to her. I think she really just wanted companionship, to love someone and be loved by them. She has so many amazing qualities and her ex-fiance was such an asshole, who I really wanted to kick in the nuts.

"Maybe a Trophy Husband would never leave me, never hurt me, never make me give up my favorite restaurant in the whole wide world. Maybe a Trophy Husband is precisely the kind of boy who could love a girl forever and ever and then some."

What can I say about Chris except for that I loved him. He was a sexy nerd and that was such a turn on. It was like he was made for McKenna with their shared love of vintage games similar fashion sense. Tack on his handyman skills and the fact that he was sexy as hell and he was a winner. I enjoyed their interactions with one another and the flirty banter that went back and forth. He gave her all of the feelings and knew how to make her blush.

"Forget tingles, forget goosebumps. That's kid stuff compared to this. My body is a comet with Chris. I am a shooting star with the way he kisses me."

The story behind this book was so fun and I absolutely loved the chemistry between Chris and McKenna. The romance growing between them was the real plot and the "Trophy Husband" contestants didn't even hold a candle. The minute she met Chris, there was no contest to who would hold her heart no matter how much denial she went through. I wanted to shake her and tell her to throw the her rules and girlfriend pact out the window and jump on Chris after their first lunch together. The writing in this book was fantastic and I seriously laughed out loud so many times. The author did and amazing job of tugging on my heartstrings a little when McKenna had to deal with her ex  while still keeping the mood of the book light. I spent an entire Saturday morning reading this book because I could not put it down. This is my first Lauren Blakely book but it definitely will not be my last.

Lol my husband gets his bank statement and runs his finger down the list of Amazon purchases, and frowns :-)

  9. Haha, exactly why I keep my book money in my separate account. My husband would probably die if he saw how much I spent at Amazon.
