Feature & Follow Friday Blog Hop #18: Reasons I'm an eBook Junkie

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme/feature hosted by Alison Can Read & Parajunkee.

This week's question is:

What is your preferred reading format? Hardcover, eBooks, paperback etc?

I love actually books, especially epic books like Harry Potter, Hunger Games and what not. Before I had an e-reader, I bought book all the time. However, over the past few years, I have really been more of and eBook person. I still love buying certain books in paperback or hardcover and I love to go to the bookstore because it smells so amazing but I am primarily and eBook reader now. Here are a few reasons why;

*Ease of buying books:
I mean Amazon has one-click, doesn't get much easier than that! (This may also be a weakness for me) Check out my Sunday Posts, you'll see.

*Light Packing:
I have over 350 books on my Kindle and I get to take all of them with me when I go on vacation.

*Borrowing books without going to the library:
I just get on overdrive and check out books from the library without leaving my living room. You can also borrow some from other Kindle users through email as well as through Amazon Prime, if you are a member.

*Still get the Covers:
With a Kindle Fire, the covers are just like the regular books so you get to see them in all their pretty glory.

*Highlighting quotes is simple:
You can highlight as many quotes as you want and they are easy to find and you don't feel like you are decimating the book.

*Indie Authors:
I have discovered so many amazing books by Indie authors that are in eBook only. E-readers open up a whole other experience with even more options. Considering my current TBR, not sure I need this but love it anyways.

*Authorgraph:
This is fairly new but it allows you to get your eBooks signed by authors who participate. I have yet to try it but I really want to.

These are the most obvious reasons why I have become and eBook junkie. I still visit Barnes & Noble bi-weekly because the smell of books and browsing the shelves of a book store with a coffee in hand will never get old even if I don't buy anything.

What about you? How do you prefer to read your books?

  1. Amazon one-click is dangerous! :) Oh, I've heard about e-signing as well, have yet to try it though...
I love ebooks pretty much for the same reasons as you, but overall I would still prefer actual books (esp. hardbacks).

  2. You have a lot of good points here. E-books are just so simple and you take your books every where. And it could be really dangerous to have one-click to buy a book. However, I still really love physical books.

  3. Those are all awesome points. I agree with every one of them! And I still like to go to the stores and browse books too. But yes- light packing is a plus. I would hate dragging a million books around. So much more convenient to remember your e-reader!

  4. I really need to get a library card, and check out Overdrive. I've never heard of it.

  6. I guess if I had a Kindle Fire I might be more appreciative of mine for the features. But I have an old one so I am limited with it. The Indie authors is the one great thing about ereaders though.
    Here is my FF.

  7. Amazon is my arch nemesis. :-) I am really curious to try the e-signing thing. I need to do that soon.

  9. I don't know how I would choose what books to take with me. I don't have to with the ereader, I can take them all!! :-)

  10. Overdrive is a great app. It allows you to check out eBooks and audiobooks from the library online. I love it!

  11. I definitely appreciate my Kindle Fire better than my old Kindle keyboard but I still use the old one for the gym and outdoor reading because it doesn't reflect the light.

  12. Ohh, I don't have a kindle fire, so I don't get the covers as well.
