15 Day Blogging Challenge: Day 14

This challenge is hosted by April over at Good Books, Good Wine. It is a new, unique challenge to put some spark back into blogging. Day 5 challenge is to Discuss Our Dealbreakers

I don't have many but there area a few things that stop me from reading or enjoying a book.

1. Romances built on cheating~ I don't mind cheating in a book, the topic doesn't bother me. However, if the book is a romance and the 2 main characters built that romance while cheating, it is harder for me to get into the romance and I can't fully enjoy the book.

2. Over possessive and controlling males~ Occasionally when a male is a little possessive or dominant, it doesn't  bother me but when the guy is crazy possessive and spouts of "you're mine" every other page, it gets to be annoying.

3. Predictable mystery  If a book is supposed to be thrilling and suspenseful but you can predict everything that's going to happen then it isn't fun to read.

4. Books with animals~ I love animals but my heart just can't take it when they die or sad things happen and I refuse to read them.

  1. Looks like our deal breakers are pretty much the same.
Cheating and animal cruelty/books where animals die are a big no no to me as well. I also can't stand predictable stories, and over possessive guys are SO not my type.

  2. :-) Yeah, if it has animals, I am like "no thank you". Doesn't matter what it's about, still not reading it.

  3. God, the animals thing. I can't take it. Old yeller? ok it's a movie but still. Nobody told me it was gonna be sad. I thought it was some adventure film about a boy and his dog. I cried. and cried.

  5. They showed us Old Yeller in fifth grade. When it was over we all kind of looked at the teacher like she was Satan. Who wants to watch that stuff? Sadists, maybe. I refused to even discuss Marley and Me.

  6. Omg, I could not have watched that in public. Too much ugly crying going on haha

  7. It was a book too and I can't believe I watched that movie as a child. I think I blocked it out as a way to cope with the emotional distress.

  10. I agree, that's why I just can't get into the book.
